Awesome photo BUFFIE - and Dale Roth...you contradict your own statement with "The inscription "Big Boy" on her front is a nice touch." How can you say "Big Boy" and "her" in the same sentence? Big Boy is the ONLY locomotive ever given the male attribute! Yes, Ships, Cars, Locomotives have been referred to in the feminine vernacular - but as I had one old-timer retired from Union Pacific tell me: "Every farmer who has cattle knows that in order to keep your cows happy and calm, you have to have a bull in the mix. The Big Boy was the bull to the rest of the Cows in the UP fleet!" Although, with today's societal rules and definitions changing - I guess the Big Boy could be called "she" according to some in this world! **sigh** Now we're going to start having "transgender" locomotives?! Whatever!
