The first wife our two kids and I road the Floridian(former South Wind) to Orlando in 1977.......departed Chicago in the worst winter anyone alive at that time had EVER seen......10mph all the way through Indiana to Louisville.......our sleeper was filthy and was about 98 degrees all the way....the Porter was an #$%hole......we got to Sanford 24HRS late.....got everybody off and rented a car still beat the train to Orlando........to add insult to injury......the second day at Orlando it snowed 2inches!! I booked a flight home to Milwaukee and told my wife "we're not going to stay in a place where we've got to pay to sit in a hotel room and watch it snow......we can get that FREE back home."

A question. How easily interchangeable were Blomberg trucks and Type B trucks? It seems to have been done occasionally.

I don't know how easy the swap was, but you are right that it happened fairly often. Kept hoping someday that I might see a loco with one of each.
