The tired old steam locomotives along with the decades old smoke and soot covered walls and dirty floor certainly tell the story of this photo.

So the age of steam in the UK lasted a decade longer than in the US

Ended August 12 1968 when last lcocmotive , which had hauled a special train the day before, was allowed to run to its new home in Diss in Norfolk. However steam lasted on the London Underground until 1971 and lasted longer in industry until the laye 1970s
