As a gandy for the old Northern Pacific, we cleaned a lot of switches in Montana. Sometimes it would be wise to have people checking switches in the winter. I question any roadmaster that had men standing around when such negligence could cost the railroad a lot of money. I wonder how much this accident cost financially.
