Pat, this was right before new CTC signalling was linked up for the short 4-1/2 mile stretch on UP's Niles Subdivision between CP Strong (south of Jack London Square at East Oakland Yard) and Elmhurst (where the Coast Sub splits off). This CTC eliminated the old "right-side-running" rule for ABS where you would need a dispatcher-authorized track warrant to run "against the current of traffic" on the left side.
