I wonder when the grab iron and toe hold to apparently access windshield were added; am pretty certain they were not there from the start, and were not on all GG-1.

As a 27-year resident of "The Swamp", I can state that the tracks behind Union Station are an excellent train-watching spot-- especially at rush-hour. This area behind the old freight station is now a pay-parking lot-- no trespassing required!! (I was there today!!).

"The Swamp"was a generalized comment about D.C. and not really railroad related.. More about thr current political mess.
