What was LARS equipped?

LARS was part of a satellite train control system developed Rockwell International which called it ARES (Advanced Railroad Electronics System). ARES used a transponder tracked by satellites to pinpoint locations, as well speed. A main feature of ARES was a video monitor on the locomotive that displays information from the dispatcher, track warrants, route profiles, and other information. For the mechanical department, it also monitored locomotive performance and mechanical condition while out on the road, using Rockwell’s Locomotive Analysis and Reporting System (LARS), which was a ARES option that BN invested in. It was installed and tested in over 100 units, but I’m not sure how long it lasted and how successful it was.
