Gone are the days of freedom. Once I was on the way home after rail fanning, and spotted a horseshoe placed over the rail head. At the crossing I got out of my car and threw the horseshoe in the creek below. I don't know what would have happened if a train would have hit the horseshoe. Perhaps nothing but teenagers have little respect for railroads. And this occurred before 9/11. And there have been other occasions where I saw mischief done by those who could care less. Now a days I stay clear of railroads and no longer rail fan since it has been my obsession since 1948.
