I thought this bridge was built around WWII so the berks could run all the way to Buffalo, I could be wrong but if so, what is wrong with it that it needs replaced?

The bridge was built by the NKP in 1905 but strengthened around 1940. NS has said the new bridge will be less costly to mantain and will make water-flow better for the Grand River.

The new bridge is nearly identical to the old one, but stronger.
