I bet these locomotives still have plenty of years of service in them.

I would beg to differ, they ride like crap, the cabs are awful and they are unreliable (especially on the grade). They did not age well at all. But that standard cab does look great in the age of wide cabs. Especially in SoCal, finding a standard cab that isn't a GEEP or a Robo SD40 working the hump in Colton is rare indeed.
