Without your caption and the context provided by other photos that I have seen of the event, I don't see anything to indicate that this photo was not taken before the abandonment.

John, you are a most lucky man. If I had only been able to do that. I however, do have a fantastic solo visit in 2013 that I will remember forever. In the end, both us are are fortunate to live to see this day. Wonderful shot John, as per usual.
