From this perspective it appears as though the first set of stacks on this train will take the wire along with them... So the locals opposed moving the tracks? I would think the locals would be all about rerouting the line.

I was a bit shocked, myself, to see a stack train here. The topography surrounding La Grange precludes a feasible bypass of Main Street. Removing the rails from grade level and preventing vehicular access with curbs would eliminate the parallel parking on the east side of the street and reduce vehicular traffic to a single direction- something downtown business owners do not want.

I could understand with the locals, the line probably helps tourism and it certainly makes the city unique. It reminds me of Gadsden, Ala., except this is a bit more photogenic.
