It's interesting in that you can see that the idea was inspired by the British HST.

Siemens has lots of recent designs of high speed trains for many customers. I doubt that the the forty year old British HST design had much influence on the Charger's design. The HSTs are still in service and there does not appear to be any firm date for their retirement. I hope the Siemens Chargers have a similar lifespan.
