Interesting story behind the SD75s...Santa Fe held the contract to haul GM autos in its territory at the time, and GM was crabbing about them being hauled behind lots of *GE* diesels. It was this crabbing, combined with GM managing to get a member on the Santa Fe board of directors, and perhaps the coming marriage with EMD-phile BN, that led to the purchase of these, but they ended up being substandard compared with their GE contemporaries, and with Santa Fe management taking over when the BNSF merger took place, BNSF then turned right back to placing their orders for GEs, with the exception of the coal dedicated SD70MACs. The SD75s got the boot from assignments to the Santa Fe/BNSF "shooters" because of reliability issues.
