Interesting photo and back-story. Your photo had me scanning over satellite images of Ash Hill! Sometimes, railroad archeology is just as interesting as the trains themselves. Thank you for sharing.

Satellite images are only marginally useful in locating these old bridges and I was able to locate this one only after having been there. The Flagstone blends into the terrain and the washes are full of debris from past RR endeavors and people dumping stuff to get rid of it. One really has to take the "boots on the ground" approach and a 4x4 vehicle is most useful. There are also some smaller bridge piers in Ludlow and half of the bridge at Ludlow uses the old Flagstone footings. Bagdad is another interesting place to walk around as is the Ibis area north of the tracks along Hwy 95.
