Great pix, Greg! That spot has a memory for me. Every time that I have gone through Oconto, I have gone by here. Every time there was a loco sitting there. Even though I have only been through Oconto three times, it was a charm each time. Thanks for the memory!

Great image, Greg. Always loved the ex-N&W Alcos, but had few chance to see/shoot them. In July 1983 I saw/shot 6714 at this same spot (also running solo on what I guess must have been some sort of mainline local), but in an awful hazy glare. You mad the shot I hoped for but failed to get.

I once saw a Norfolk Southern train stop in Lexington NC and the crew walked to a restaurant for dinner. Then returned and left with a very long train I think the power was two sd40-2 high hoods. This was about 20 years ago.

Depending on which division meal en route would get them a little more in their pay.

The CNW crews had a clause in their contract for a meal en-route. They would make extra money if it was denied. Dispatchers would usually accommodate them on most lines, but the east-west mainline was often a different story as one could imagine.
