Matt - I enjoy your photos, and you've done it again. Nice photo of a beautiful lady getting ready to sleep for the night. Question though - what's with the box around the headlight? I know it's for some type of protection, but I have rarely seen it used. Nice photo just the same.

theft or vandalism protection, I'll bet. Notice that the translucent number plates on the top of the boiler have also been removed.

I'm not sure but would guess it is to protect it from damage when it is not in service, just as the number boards were removed.

Indeed, as indicated by a few of the comments above, we place the box over the headlight shortly after tucking the engine away for the evening so as not to draw attention to its pretense to passing vandals or anyone who's looking for a nice target for the rock they just picked up. Wish I'd know you were around, Matt, would have taken the cover off for you! Give me a shout next time your in the area and we're fired up.
