Absolute latest this could be built is 1950. That year they changed to a round grill not flat. It looks like a 2U and those were built from 1940 to 1950 roughly. So it;s a close tie, need a serial number to know for sure.

I like this picture not only because of the beautiful J, but also because the CAT reminds me of the very old D3 that I drove as a teenager in a salvage yard. I got to crush old wrecks with it. The Cat started with a two cyl. gas engine like I see in the picture. It was way cool. Thanks for bringing back a fond memory.
