I believe there is also such an operation in far northeast Springfield, MO. Neosho, MO used to have one in the limestone caves near the BNSF/KCS junction (serviced by the latter). I've heard it said that in cold war days there was actually a tunnel carved underground all the way from near Neosho to Kansas City. Knew the Federal Government did have a record storage operation in the Neosho caves.

I'm glad you took the time to scope this out. From a photographic compositional standpoint, this is one of my very favorite photos. It's a simple photo, but with heaps of crisp detail and the unifying effects of the colors (chrome yellow, electric blue and ____ (what; a kind of dull pumpkinish orange?) the functional uniqueness of the site is matched by an equally unique, artistic quality of your photo. It deserves to be "favoriteed" twice.
