Thanks for a unique view of a place that I last visited in July, 1989 while chasing 587-1218. If memory serves, the fill was overgrown back then with some type of vegetation.

Interesting that you say 587--I was not aware that NKP 587 (IIRC, a USRA 2-8-2) ever ran in the Southern / Norfolk Southern steam program, or in this area. Do you mean the 2-8-4s, back in the day C&O 2716, and in recent times NKP 765?

Dave, the NKP 2-8-2 No. 587 doubleheaded with the 1218 up this grade during the 1989 NRHS Convention. I'll have to dig some of those slides out of the closet.
