A classic shot in all possible ways! August of 1972... this is merger day with the Illinois Central, give or take a few days. What a shame it was to lose those two railroads. However, this handsome paint scheme (how good can a loco look from behind?) would stay with us for well over a decade thanks to ICG's incredibly slow repainting program.
