I seem to remember that train being called the "Chain Gang" as it usually was assigned any on-line switching between Spokane and Wenatchee on the Steven's Pass (ex-GN) route. I doubt it would on a day it was carrying Boeing stuff though.

My understanding is that current practice is to extend the Quincy local (Spud local) as far east as Marlin and they may run a local as needed from Spokane west to Odessa. Of course, these things change quickly and the SPO-EVE could go back to doing local work again. I've not heard of this train doing local work west of Wenatchee, and of course there is very little to be done these days. I believe they run a local from Everett up as far as Skykomish when needed.

Makes sense. Operating practices are always changing. My comment was based on mid-late '90s experience working out there.
