That open auto rack may well be delivering the LAST shipment of Studebaker "Commanders", a model formerly known as the "Lark." The LAST Studebakers were built at their Canadian plant approx March 16-17 1966, 2 weeks prior to this photo.

You have shared so many great photos from 40-50 years ago, but this one really stands out for me. There are so many appealing aspects, but I particularly appreciate the play of light on the subtly complex curves of that beautiful EMD 'face'. The Rio Grande color scheme and open auto rack (are those Studebakers?) don't hurt, either.

Pretty sure that those are Studebakers on the car flat. Last year of production.

On a cloudy, pre-winter storm day, that section of metro Denver is fascinating. It makes one feel as though he is on the edge of the very dangerous looking elements, and this train (like any other westbound on that line) is about to go right up into them. Great photo, especially with some of the period rolling stock in tow (or "push", in this case).

Great shot! Rio Grande F Units, snowy Colorado Mountains, John Deere ag equipment, and Studebaker! I have a white Studebaker Cruiser just like that one on the rack (just not as new).
