This is a great picture. But I have to wonder why Amtrak celebrates a history of losing money every year of its existence and costing the American taxpayers $45 billion. Don't get me wrong I love passenger rail, but if it could be done profitably and competitively someone would do it. The government aided in running passenger service on private companies out of business, then decided we need passenger service so they have the brilliant idea of running it themselves by setting up a quasi corporation to operate it.
