Back then, before Maryland's MARC commuter rail auth. was set up, B&O ran 4 pairs of weekday trains on the Metropolitan sub (aka "Brunswick line"). Three had 2 or 3 Budd cars; the fourth, a GP9 plus 4 ex-B&O coaches (3 in this Chessie paint and one in classic B&O livery). All trains ran fully packed, spilling out onto the vestibules. From Forest Glen, Md., my monthly ticket cost $29.10. At this time, B&O hauled commuters also on the Balto.-DC Capital sub, and the Pittsburgh sub between Pittsburgh, McKeesport & Versailles, Pa.
