Another fine railway portrait John. Thirty odd years ago the rusting hulk of 6023, sitting in Barry scrapyard in south Wales UK, was called the "Impossible Restoration" (no doubt to discourage the fund raising attempts...) and those who -originally- had dreams about rebuilding her and having two new wheels cast to replace the gas-cut rear drivers had their sanity questioned. Thanks to those brave 'dreamers' within the then Barry Steam Locomotive Group (BSLAG for short) and others we still have 6023 with us and not Beaked Bean cans or whatever! Thanks Mike, Mel and all the others I got to know, things might not have worked out as you would have wished but the locos are safe. More than can be said for the old Pullman works. :(
