Four years hence will find the lead unit majestically appearing in the Academy Award-winning motion picture, In The Heat Of The Night. For her roll, number 103 will be cleaned, touched up, and buffed to a fine luster.

That inference is understandable, but incorrect. Many GM&O geeps spent the majority of their lives owned and maintained by the ICG - left in original paint but rarely (ever?) washed. In fact, a handful of the last units purchased by the GM&O (GP38-2s) were delivered directly to the ICG - never having been photographed on (or maintained by) the GM&O.
