Years ago I emailed Athearn model trains with a suggestion to release their great SD45T-2 models in some "Fantasy" schemes of railroads that never actually owned them in real life. Right behind the most natural of the Rio Grande, was the Burlington Northern. This is very close to what I had envisioned. Just add some diagonal white stripes on the nose and this would be quite handsome. Rounding out my dream scheme list were the Western Pacific, Milwaukee Road. Some high hood Southern and N&W units would be neat too. Just dreamin'!

I know that Southern Pacific and Denver & Rio Grande Western both had Tunnel Motors in their fleets. Union Pacific acquired them through the SP merger. I wasn't aware that the Cotton Belt ever had any Tunnel Motors. It's quite interesting now, to see where all the SD40T-2s & SD45T-2s have gone off to. I love this photo, Casey. Thanks for your talents & for sharing with us.

Casey, Thanks for putting up with beginners like myself. I did some reading in the 2009 Locomotive issue from Trains Magazine. One of the articles spoke of the Tunnel Motors and how Southern Pacific, Denver & Rio Grande Western, & Cotton Belt (SSW) all had various numbers and models. The Cotton Belt at least represented with their own sets & numbers.
