Sure isn't pretty or graceful, but there is something about this type of locomotive that just looks powerful and ready to do its job.

I would like to see her repainted in a different scheme, rather than the five widely-spaced pinstripes that she wore from 1982 until a few years ago. My vote would be for the original 1934 "all-over" striping with white driver tires. Then, park her next to the 4935 for contrast.

That would in fact be an interesting choice of paint schemes, Bob - don't know that I've ever seen a GG1 preserved as such. There were quite a few liveries to chose from - there's a nice sampling of schemes provided at spikesys.com which can be seen here!

Nice photo of Pennsy's first GG1. The monotone side lit presentation is great...it highlights her rivets. The fog is the icing on the cake. I agree with Bob's comments about painting this GG1 back to her original paint scheme and parking her next to her sister inside the museum. Nice series of Strasburg photos. I haven't been to this museum in over 20 years. I see I need to visit there again.
