Your picture has the nice look of a color-faded vintage photo, which makes it look as if it had been shot in the 50's. Not sure where the effect comes from, whether it is the scan or post-processing, or even if the colors have indeed got faded with time, but the result is good.

Thanks for the comment, Jean-Marc. The photo was scanned from a Kodachrome slide, and edited with Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011. The editing software has exposure and color controls with automatic settings and slide controls for fine-tuning, plus a sharpening feature. I usually select the automatic adjustments at first, and then I try to tweak the photo with the slide controls until it looks good to me. I have noticed that the photos look a little different on my laptop screen where I do my editing, compared to my desktop computer at work.
