I recall making MANY trips aboard these trains between Lancaster and 30th St. While providing the basis for what was to successfully grow into the current "Keystone Service" these cars left a lot to be desired, as the "walkover"commuter seats were not particularly comfortable and they had NO bathroom facilities.

It's an interesting coincidence that this SAME car appears in RPN photo 313669 in its later SEPTA paint scheme. It makes sense that SEPTA would have kept the number 231, as, If I recall correctly, SEPTA ( or its predecessor agency) was somehow involved in providing PC with funding assistance to buy these cars originally.

My favorite memories of the Silverliners are of the several Phillies Baseball Specials that we rode out of Elizabethtown. These trains originated in Harrisburg, and would usually have 8-12 cars. They terminated in the yard behind JFK Stadium, and I recall walking through the RR yard and across various parking lots to get to Veterans Stadium.
