I've been enjoying seeing all of these older pics of this area. It's a shame all the wires are all gone on this route.

As interesting as these motors are to us today, I recall that they were NOT very popular with fans when they were new as the were seen as "replacements" for our beloved GG1s. PRR always considered the long hood of a hood unit the "Front." With an E44, that was carrying the concept to an extreme.

Thanks Rob. I also miss the electrically-powered freights and occasional passenger trains. It's nice to see the NS Heritage Units traveling through here today, but the action under the old PRR catenary was unique...

Great shot from my home rails. Unless my eyes deceive me, it appears the wire is contacting the extreme right side of those pans, even off the main shoe. They must have been fun to see in action.

Nate- I think you are right- the trolley wire is definitely off to the side...
