Wow, 2 steam locomotives back-to-back, an arrangement I've never seen in North America, was this common practice in Russia? Thank for the great shot!

There is no railway turntable at the end of the route ("Port Baikal" station). So tour organizers have put locomotives back-to-back to turn train. It is normal practice in Russia. Sometimes a second locomotive put into the tail of the train.
