Tim, this is a fantastic shot! The mountains in the background look huge (well...they are huge)! Question: Is there a helper at the end of the 21k ton train or, is the ES44AC doing it all alone?

Correct. CN in Western Canada run their coal trains in a 1x1 formation at about 0.4 horsepower per ton.
