Kevin - I am a fan of your photos, and this one is just another example of your ability to make a photo pull the viewer in and place them at the scene of the action. It's almost as though I were standing right there next to you! Interesting information accompanying the photo. Now that I've read the history lesson, I can see why a "J" looks oddly out-of-place reassigned to freight duty. Although if NS / and the VMT were smart - when she runs excursions on the main - they'd do what the UP did with their steamers...put them on freight trains when they are being ferried from one excursion location to the next one. That way they still keep freight moving, they free up a couple of diesels for other trains, and the 611 gets to it's next destination while "earning her keep" without interference with a "special" move. That is - ONLY If NS were smart.
