When you look at the grand railroad stations built 100+ years ago, it's obvious railroads were the largest & most profitable industry in the USA. They certainly didn't cut any corners or costs when they built them. The railroads were planning to be the dominate industry for many years yet to come. Many of these RR stations are over 100 years old and promising to be around for many more. Providing they get the deserved attention they need now.
