Now this is what I wish the modern steam era had for when host railroads require diesels in the consist to go with steam!

As I recall, the Atlanta chapter of the NRHS likewise often used an F7B when they / Southern ran excursions behind Savannah & Atlanta 750, which was a fairly light Pacific, with much less pulling ability than a Southern Ps-4 or Atlanta & West Point 290.

No, 750 and even 290 were assisted by both NGRR (former SR) FP-7A 3498 and 3499. Some trips were also push pull to Stone Mountain using these as well as E-8A 6901 (former SR 6901) and 6902. The 869 above was a former L&N/NC&StL unit. Boy, I miss fan trips on the Clinchfield behind the 1 Spot and the F's. I wish they would run an Amtrak charter between Spartenburg and Erwin throught the loops and gorge.
