Interesting Exhaust Stacks on the Geeps ! Spark Arrestors ? Also, have never seen any UP Units with Mars Lights

I suspect the 24" tall exhaust stacked were an attempt to keep the exhaust out of the cab, since UP 700-729 / 100-129 were designated for long-hood forward operation. Along with the Mars light (only on the long-hood end), also note the lower numberboards. In later years the Mars light was removed, but the headlight retained its lower position. At least seven of them had very large snowplows on the front pilots at one time, too - large enough that it was taller than the walkway!
