IC used these a lot and Amtrak, never thought they worked as good as a true Mars light.

You're excellent photo and history lesson are making me miss the good old days! My wife and I were just talking today about gyrating lights. We could see a Louisville & Nashville coal train coming from miles away in the countryside at night. So much has changed, and I'm thankful that I was around in the 1960s and 1970s to witness wonderful cabooses, towers, motorcars, and friendly train crews not hidden by jet-black glass.
