Nice find, Mitch. I had the honor of knowing one of those 52 apprentices. Mr. Fred Manson started out on the Reading, later becoming the superintendent of the Lehigh and New England car department. After the demise of the L&NE, he went on to serve in similar capacities for the Akron, Canton, & Youngstown and Trailer Train Corporation. I remember him speaking of this project, but I never knew what became of the model. Apparently the project helped to provide a solid foundation for a long, productive, railroad career.
