I know there's likely more damage there, but I kinda find it funny how the derailment has managed to simply shove the track to one side, making a curve that actually looks like it belongs there.

Derailments are one thing that should remind us to appreciate living in a free country. In the Soviet under Stalin, every time a train derailed, someone had to be shot for sabotage.

That unnatural curve is a speed bump going sideways. It seems odd to me that NS has had more trouble with removing old switches, realigning track to speed up operations, and then two wrecks within a year. Go figure!

Wonder how many loads are behind the empty hoppers and how much engine brakes were being applied at the time? Maybe the train brake wasn't set either. Looks like they popped them out. I don't see any switches around the derailed cars. Looks like they are running at restricted speed, no more than 4 cars derailed. Just a thought from an old head conductor retired.
