If I am not mistaken, this is one of at least three separate derailments on the CCR that were never cleaned up. How interesting each one lies abandoned in place. If the rusty rails suggest abandonment, then this derailment confirms it. This photo makes me wonder if this line prone to derailments more than some other lines.

If i can recall these cars were used as passengers cars for the "Golden Pacific" railroad that ran up here in Washington state. The typical consist was a Reading T1 2100, a F40PH, and these cars.
