I wish "Trains" would do a feature on the great old rag-tag, mismatched (and money making) mail and express trains. I remember those Southern trains running thru on N&W near home in Virginia. There were NH express cars, ACL baggage cars, Pennsy baggage cars, REA express reefers etc., etc. The pits were PRR 40' boxes fitted with steam lines and signal lines as the only extras.
