Gotta love the Hancock Air Whistles. This day and age though, they probably count as the least likely audio warning device to be heard over the iPod of the character walking down the middle of the tracks.

Another great one, Wharton. The SD/SDP35s used to come into Montgomery once in a while in the early '70s, usually on the daily 'big' train on the old SAM. Always thought it odd, as that line was (or seemed to be) all four-axle power, except for the '35s.
