Ah, the '70s. A little too early for my railfanning days. Standing on the CNJ bridge for that shot? Couldn't get away with that these days!

Yes I was on the CNJ bridge. Of course there was no traffic on the bridge at that time. Who would have thought that two decades later, the LV bridge would be found to be structurally unsound, and Conrail would reactivate the bridge where I was standing? Maybe there's a shot from the LV bridge now, but I haven't been there since the relocation.

I think it was actually only about one decade (1987 was when they switched over to the CNJ bridge). I'd love to be able to go out on the LV bridge, but I'm sure these days you'd be treated like public enemy No. 1 for doing that! Unfortunately, the LV bridge blocks the view of the in use CNJ bridge from the south unless you get some elevation.

Amazing shot. My favorite locomotive in my two favorite color schemes. Wish I could have seen the LV when it existed.
