I really enjoy your photograph here! The area looks almost exactly the same today! However, it looks to me like you're facing east which would mean that if the train is in reverse, it would be returning to the NB/SB main line rather than heading west towards the Ford Plant in Saline.

Connor Friedrichsen is correct that this local has just come from Saline on the Saline Branch and is now backing around the connection track towards the main. Once on the main, and after the switch has been thrown normal, it will head timetable west (compass north) back to Ferry Yard in Ann Arbor. This is a nice photo, Rod! I grew up in this area, spent my formative teenage years "hanging around" Ferry Yard and even worked for the Ann Arbor Railroad for a short period of time. I remember this operation well, and I thank you for the memories!

Guys its is going east and will clear the switch and start backing { coming toward the camera } on its way to Saline I shot him in the yard, I got shots him crossing the diamond and I chased him to the Ford plant. I even got shots of him working the Ford plant.. Thanks for the comments thought.

Thanks for the clarification Rod! I guess I initially thought that when you commented the train was backing up that you meant the caboose was headed to the right of the picture which would be towards the main line.

Mr. Clark, thank you for sharing your photo. "Charming" is a word that comes to mind, and the design of the caboose is very interesting.
