Being an area resident, I can say the situation with the grain elevator has greatly changed. Closed long ago, stripped by a salvage company and in the recent Springfield paper a question was raised as to why the empty elevator has stood that way for so many years. I have no idea on how the C & IM is doing. Not much going on from what I saw. Good to see a picture of the place lit up.

I&M (C&IM) 30 is currently operating on the Atlantic & Western in North Carolina. I&M 31 is still on home rails, but for not much longer. Rumor has it a GP15-1 is on its way to displace it. No word on where the 31 is going (hopefully to the IRM in Union, IL). BNSF coal keeps the mainline busy from Pekin to Ellis, but for how much longer? 2 online power plants have closed within the last 2 years.
