According to Wiki, the Chessie System was incorporated in Virginia on February 26, 1973. I never realized it was that early. So odd to see Chessie and PC in the same image, let alone a catenary system that reached from Altoona to Alenandria. Great catch, Joe!

Mitch, I really hate playing the railfan "I told you so game" but for somebody who clearly has a great understanding of railroad history like yourself, you made a really rookie error; PRR electrification never made it to Altoona. Enola was the absolute western terminus, as Potomac was the absolute southern.

I meant Enola (visualizing the yard near Harrisburg) and wrote Altoona (where GG1 #4840 was built in 1935), thanks John! I was more concerned I was mistaken on the early date at which the Chessie livery was first applied to a diesel.

Understood Mitch. I fully expected it was just a small offhand mistake, but for some reason I couldn't let it go! Also, I totally agree that seeing these two paint schemes (and locomotive types for that matter), which in my mind are from very distinct different eras, is strange to see.
