Like a postcard or a Christmas card. Very nice!

Wooooooooow, amazing! ... Welcome to RP, and obviously my PCA vote for this terrific shot !!!

I have to say this since no one else has, it's way over processed. The darks in the bottom right have been really messed up from this hdr-like effect that's going on. The composition and focus is terrific, but the post-processing needs work.

Agree this shot has too much post-processing. It makes me question if the train is even in this shot or if this is a couple shots stitched together. The auto racks blend right into the snow with no clearance, the front of the rack is in the sun even though the shadows are across the valley, etc.

I have to agree with Mr. Haley. The shot is like "Wow" at first. Everything about it is fantastic until I noticed the black surfaces have turned purple. Maybe a little too much of a good thing? I'd love to see a more realistic version of the image, I'm sure it would be outstanding.

Welcome to RP.net! A great shot with great potential and I am very much looking forward to seeing more from you, however, I agree what Sean said above. Incidentally, you can go to "members" and delete both Sean's and my own comment and if you find any merit in the critique, resubmit the shot, also via the "members" section. Then again, with 4K views and 57+ favorites, maybe it works as is. I'd send this via PM but you have yet to provide it in your profile.

I know very little about photo processing and color enhancement , but I know what I see, I like what I see, and that is all that I care about. Walt, those that know a lot about photo processing can say what they want as for me I like your photograph very much. PCA vote from me.

Thank you all for your comments. I had very little time to prepare before the train arrived at the location. I did the best I could with the conditions I had, the hillside in full sunlight filtered through a low overcast to the south and the tracks and train in the shadows. I had a polarizing filter on and I didn't get it rotated for the best hue. In the full resolution .tiff file the shot looks awesome! I did NO photoshopping of the photo whatsoever to add or delete to the scene. What you see is what is there! My goal was to hike in, use a neutral density filter to correct the contrasting background and get a great shot. The train came by 5 minutes after I arrived and since the temperature was -11° I didn't wait for another to come by. I will try again in the spring when the sun will be higher in the sky and conditions are better to photograph.

This was straight out of the camera??? I highly doubt it..... How come the right side of the frame is significantly brighter than the rest that's in shadows? And another purple BNSF snow-plow? I have seen a million BNSF units in my life and never has one been purple.

Unreal shot. Bellissimo!

This made it eh?

No hard feelings at all, but I just don't like the processing on this at all. I'm amazed it was even accepted. Again, that's not to demean one's work. There might have been a good shot here (the location, composition and other aspects are fine), but it was "cooked" beyond all belief.

There is no way this was straight out of the camera. One look at the plow and the snow hanging from the trees shows some major work with Photoshop/Lightroom. Congrats on all the "views" and favorites.
