That Harley Earle look, thankfully in this case, didn't quite catch on. On a '56 Buick or Oldsmobile, it looked great, but it was a look that didn't endure. The LWT12 was successful, but it was tied to a project that wasn't ready for prime time.

It road (and felt) like a bus because it basically was a bus - only a bus on rails! Designed to save the industry (passenger rail travel), it did not quite meet it's mark but it was quite a sight to see! A photo of the AeroTrain in action on the PRR by John Dziobko can be seen here. Two survive, but neither with it's finned observation end cars.

I have visited this site many times over the years and watched her futuristic lines sage, rust, peel, decay and fade away. At times she looks like she is weeping as the rust stains run down her face. She also smells a bit musty. Thanks Mitch for capturing what I see each time I visit her.
